The spheroidization and coarse crushing of graphite generally use airflow vortex mills (both smashing performance and de-angling effect), airflow classifiers are used for classification, and the dressing equipment is generally low-speed mills, vibration mills, or shaping machines. There is usually a certain amount of fine particles in the airflow, so the system also requires equipment such as pulse dust collectors.
 
Purification of spherical graphite
Spherical graphite is often used as a negative electrode material for lithium-ion batteries. The purity is required to be above 99.95%. Therefore, the purification process is indispensable and vital in the production process of spherical graphite. At present, the purification of spherical graphite mainly adopts a high-temperature purification method or chemical purification method.
1、High-temperature purification method
High-temperature purification takes advantage of graphite's high melting point, high boiling point, and non-volatile properties to reduce its impurity content at high temperatures, and the purity can reach more than 99.995%. The disadvantage is high energy consumption and low output.
2、Chemical purification
The chemical purification method is a method in which chemical reagents such as hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc. are mixed with graphite after spheroidization and shaping according to the prescribed formula ratio for chemical purification.
 
The application status of spherical graphite
Spherical graphite material has good electrical conductivity, high crystallinity, low cost, high theoretical lithium insertion capacity, low charge, and discharge potential, and flatness. It is an important part of current lithium-ion battery anode materials and raw material for fuel cell plates. It is also used In the brush industry.
